Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly known as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) until 2015, is a public collegiate university located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University Lucknow is one of the largest technical universities in India and Asia divided into five zones.
AKTU was divided into two distinct universities, Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU). In 2013, the university was reformed by uniting the two on January 5, 2013. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University is an affiliated university with over 800 colleges connected to it. AKTU Admission 2024
APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Admissions to UG and PG courses are based on various entrance and evaluation processes. For UG courses like B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, BHMCT, BFAD, BFA, B.Des, and BVoc, admission is determined by the CUET UG examination conducted by NTA. Alternatively, AKTU B.Tech admissions also consider JEE Main scores, with counseling administered through UPTAC.
Interested students who wish to get admission to AKTU PG courses, including M.Tech, M.Des, M.Pharm, MCA, M.Arch, M.Plan, and MURP, are required to take the CUET PG examination.
MBA admissions are based on CMAT scores, followed by a selection process involving a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) conducted by the university.
AKTU B.Tech Admissions:
Admission to AKTU B.Tech. First-year in 1st semester and lateral admission in B.Tech. second year in 3rd semester (for diploma/B.Sc. candidates only) will be as per the rules prescribed by the Academic Council of AKTU Lucknow.
Note: Admission on migration of a candidate from any other University to the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University is not permitted.
Eligibility for AKTU B.Tech Admission
Admission to AKTU B.Tech. First Year through Entrance Examination: Eligibility for admission to undergraduate courses in the First year shall be as per guidelines of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) / Related Council and according to the latest U.P. Government notifications/rules.
Admission to AKTU B.Tech. Second Year through Lateral Entry Scheme:
- Candidates who have passed 3/4 year Diploma (with minimum 60% marks) from institutions recognized by the U.P. Board of Technical Education in any branch of Engineering/Technology except Agriculture Engineering are eligible for admission to the Second year in any branch of Engineering./Technology except Agriculture Engineering
- Candidates who have passed 3/4 year Diploma (with minimum 60% marks) from institutions recognized by the U.P. Board of Technical Education in Agriculture Engineering are only eligible for Second-year admission to Agriculture Engineering.
Direct admission on vacant seats at institution/college level: The eligibility criteria for direct admission on seats remaining vacant in the first year after entrance examination counseling shall be such as may be notified from time to time.

AKTU has a Central Training and Placement Cell (CTPC) that assists students in skill development through training programs and internships. The cell organizes seminars and lectures for the selected courses.
