Hiralal and Ratan Shastri founded the Banasthali Vidyapith as a women-only academic institution in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Its admissions process is open to all women, regardless of caste, colour, religion, race, or residence.

Foreign/NRI/NRI Sponsored candidates are admitted solely on the basis of their performance in the 10+2 level examination. Admission to any course at Banasthali Vidyapith requires a minimum of 40% in the 10+2 level or equivalent (50 percent for B.Ed and 55 percent for M.Ed).
