Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design

IIM Lucknow has revised CAT Admit Card 2023 release date. CAT Admit Card will now be released on 7 November 2023 @iimcat.ac.in. The release date of CAT Admit Card was previously set to be 25 October. Candidates will be able to download their respective CAT Admit Cards until the exam day by using their CAT login ID and password. The CAT 2023 Exam will be held on November 26 at approximately 400 test centres across 150 cities. The exam will be divided into three slots and will last two hours. Candidates will be able to take the test at the centre only if they bring a hard copy of their CAT 2023 Admit Card.
The UCEED 2025 exam is expected to take place sometime in January 2025, and the candidates will be able to access the UCEED 2025 application form on the official website of UCEED - uceed.iitb.ac.in. sometime in October 2024.

The UCEED syllabus is divided into 2 major parts - Part A and Part B. Part A of the exam has 3 major sections - Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), whereas the part B of the exam has just 2 sections - Drawing and Design Aptitude. Along with the UCEED syllabus it is important for the candidates to consult the UCEED Exam pattern for better understanding.

Some significant changes were introduced in the UCEED Syllabus in 2024 examination, and the syllabus for UCEED 2025 is expected to remain the same. As of 2024, the sections were reorganized and Part A now has 7 major sections - Visualization and spatial reasoning, Practical and scientific knowledge, Observation and design sensitivity, Environment and Society, Analytical and logical reasoning, Language, and Creativity. Part B now comprises of 2 sections - Drawing and Design Aptitude. Check the detailed syllabus for both the parts of the exam separately detailed below.
Part A of the UCEED Syllabus is divided into 7 sections. The questions are designed in 3 formats - NAT, MSQ, and MCQ which the candidates have to solve in 2 hours. Check the skills tested and the syllabus for Part A of the UCEED Examination.

A key change was made to the Part B syllabus of UCEED. A new topic "Design Aptitude" was added. So, Part B now has two topics, with one question asked from each section.

The questions in this section are specifically designed to test your ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events and think critically about them. You need to pay attention to specific details, analyze, reason, classify, infer, and predict—the ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes. The following are the crucial topics to prepare for the upcoming exam.
This section is focused on testing your General Awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources, etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure, and environment.
You should be aware of social and cultural connections with the design, the history of the designed artifact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses.

This section of the UCEED Exam Syllabus tests the ability to look at qualitative or quantitative information and discern patterns within the information. You should be able to weigh opinions, arguments, or solutions against appropriate criteria.
You should also be able to check for hidden bias or assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions. Use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage which of several statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Going through Data Interpretation, brainteasers, and patterns can be an advantage in this section.

This section is designed to test your proficiency in reading and comprehending the Standard English. The following pointers should be taken into consideration while preparing for this section.
You should be able to use visual analogies, metaphors, signs, and symbols. Also, you must understand the complexity, identify the problem, generate alternatives, evaluate the options, and select solutions.

The UCEED exam syllabus is divided into 2 major parts - Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 7 sections - Visualization and spatial reasoning; Practical and scientific knowledge; Observation and design sensitivity; Environment and Society; Analytical and logical reasoning; Language; and Creativity. Part B has only 2 sections, namely - Drawing and Design Aptitude.
The UCEED syllabus was revised in 2024, and part B of the exam was divided in 2 sub-sections. Earlier there was just 1 section - Drawing. However, after the revision, the design aptitude section was introduced to test the students knowledge about the design and creativity skills in practical.
The difficulty of the UCEED exam is considered to range from moderate to difficult. It is not an easy exam, and the syllabus covered in the exam is quiet exhaustive. The UCEED exam may or may not cover all the topics listed in the syllabus, but candidates are advised not to leave any topic.

There are a total of 57 questions asked in the UCEED exam. The questions in part A are of 3 types - Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
The UCEED syllabus is released by the exam conducting authority, which in this case is IIT Bombay, on its official website for the exam. The syllabus is usually the same in all the years, and is readily available on the website.
