NIFT Exam Pattern 2025 Highlights
The General Ability Test (GAT) will be administered online, while the Creative Ability Test (CAT) will be conducted offline. Based on the marks of the written examination, candidates are shortlisted for the Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
To gain admission to the B.Des program, candidates have to clear all three stages of the selection process, namely CAT, GAT, and Situation Test.
For M.Des admissions candidates have to appear for CAT, GAT, and Group Discussion/PI. Candidates have to appear for GAT to gain admission to B.F.Tech and for M.F.Tech and MFM applicants, the selection process will be through GAT and GD/ PI.

NIFT Exam Pattern 2025 Negative Marking
For each incorrect attempt on the GAT exam, the candidate will lose 25% of their final score. To succeed on the GAT, a candidate must use discretion when answering questions for which they are unsure of the correct response. The CAT paper is a drawing-based exam, and does not have negative markings.
