  • 17% of the total number of questions basically tested the mathematical skill of the student.
  •  The questions of Thermodynamics and Manufacturing were tougher than the rest of the sections.
  • There were a lot of tricky questions in the Fluid Mechanics Section.
  • The Mathematics section was easier than last year.
  • The General Aptitude section carried 15 marks. Five questions for each 1-mark and 2-mark sub-sections

Forenoon slot: The paper was more about conceptual understanding rather than being based on logical reasoning or formula. Manufacturing Technology had a weightage of less than 15% and the questions that were related to Thermal Engineering and Heat Transfer were considerably less in number, having the same weightage as last year requiring conceptual understanding to do them better.

Afternoon Slot: The number of NAT Questions were more than MCQs and had more weightage. The weightage for Manufacturing Technology was the highest wherein a lot of questions were lengthy. One mark questions were easy and very few of them were of medium level difficulty. The paper had required some amount of logical thinking and analysis of concepts.

GATE Civil Engineering Paper Analysis:

The exam was conducted for subjects like steel structure, soil mechanics, irrigation, hydrology, transpiration engineering, foundation engineering, and fluid engineering. There were 65 questions for 100 marks.
