New Update About CLAT 2025

IIM Lucknow has revised CAT Admit Card 2023 release date. CAT Admit Card will now be released on 7 November 2023 @iimcat.ac.in. The release date of CAT Admit Card was previously set to be 25 October. Candidates will be able to download their respective CAT Admit Cards until the exam day by using their CAT login ID and password. The CAT 2023 Exam will be held on November 26 at approximately 400 test centres across 150 cities. The exam will be divided into three slots and will last two hours. Candidates will be able to take the test at the centre only if they bring a hard copy of their CAT 2023 Admit Card.

CLAT Syllabus 2025: The Consortium of National Law University (NLU) releases the syllabus for CLAT UG and CLAT PG separately on its official website every year. The syllabus of CLAT 2025 consists of five sections namely, English comprehension, general knowledge including current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques. The CLAT PG 2025 syllabus has topics from different areas of law. The difficulty level of the CLAT exam is of class 12th standard, and each section in the CLAT 2025 syllabus has a set of 4-6 passages followed by questions based on the passage.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for admission into 5-year LLB and LLM programmes offered by the NLUs. The exam is scheduled to be held on December 1, in offline mode. The candidates need to answer a total of 120 questions in MCQ format in a duration of 2 hours. Each question in the CLAT exam carries 1 mark, and 24 NLUs in total accept the CLAT UG and CLAT PG Scores.

The CLAT UG Syllabus is made up of 5 major sections, namely English comprehension, general knowledge including current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques. Each section carries different number of questions and has a distinct weightage. Sections like English comprehension and legal reasoning are considered the most important ones and carry significant weightage whereas, CLAT maths carries only around 10% weight. CLAT 2025 Syllabus for English Language and Comprehension

The CLAT English section is primarily a test of a candidate's language skills — reading, comprehension, and grammar. The questions are asked from six to seven passages of around 450 words each, followed by a series of multiple-choice type questions. Students need to read these passages and answer the underlying questions accordingly. The passages are drawn from fiction, non-fiction, and journalistic sources such as newspapers and magazines.

  • Answer questions about personalities and events associated with the events in the passage
  • Answer questions about awards, recognitions, and other events of significance associated with persons mentioned in the passage.
  • Answer questions related to laws and other events of legal significance (such as judgments) associated with events mentioned in the passage.
  • Questions may also relate to matters associated with events mentioned in the passage. 

While the focus will be on recent and current events, some questions with historical significance may also be asked. These questions will gauge your understanding of the causes of such events.

CLAT PG Syllabus 2025 - LLM Syllabus for CLAT

The LLM Syllabus for CLAT 2025 is majorly divided into 2 sections - Objective type questions and various other law subjects in the second part. The questions are asked in similar comprehension passage formats. However, questions are framed around specific topics of law and current legal affairs. The LLM CLAT exam has no descriptive or essay type questions to be answered. Objective Section

This section will provide candidates with extracts from primary legal materials, such as significant court decisions in several law fields, statutes, or regulations. Every passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require candidates to:

CLAT is the toughest law exam in India and a dream for the upcoming lawyers to study at the top NLUs. The syllabus for CLAT is not limited and so is the Law. While it is overwhelming to prepare for the exam, below are a few generic tips to help you get through the CLAT exam.

  • Understand the CLAT exam pattern and Syllabus in detail, and know what are the topics covered in the exam.
  • Make a list of all the topics you are familiar with and all the topics you are unfamiliar with. Then, categorize them each into tough and easy topics as per your strengths and weaknesses.
