Calcutta University Admissions for MBA courses are open. The last date to fill out the application form is 7 June 2024.
University of Calcutta course admissions to B.Tech are based on the WBJEE exam to be held on 28 April 2024.
Applications for Calcutta University Ph.D. course admissions are now closed. The last date to apply was 20 Feb 2024.

University of Calcutta course admission to various UG, PG, and Ph.D programs are based on entrance exams as well as on merit. The university accepts national-level exams such asJEE Main/CAT/MAT/XAT and state-level exams like WBJEE/WB JECA/CUCAT for admission 2024. Furthermore, Calcutta University admission is bifurcated into two categories: Part A- for CU candidates and Part B- for Non-CU candidates. 80% of seats are reserved for CU candidates and the remaining 20% are for Non-CU candidates in PG courses based on the entrance exam.

Calcutta University offers admission to a variety of postgraduate programs such as MA, M.Com, M.Sc, MBA, MCA, MTech, B.Ed, B.Lib.Sc, M.Li.Sc, M.Ed, and LL.M, covering an array of disciplines in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Education. The basic eligibility criterion for these postgraduate courses is a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field.
University of Calcutta PG course admissions are divided into two categories: Part ‘A’ for CU Candidates and Part ‘B’ for Non-CU candidates. Of the total seats available, 80% are reserved for CU students (including Honours Graduates from CU and Autonomous Colleges affiliated with CU falling under Part – “A”), while the remaining 20% are allocated in Part “B” for Honours Graduates from other universities (Non-C.U.).
The selection process for Part “A” candidates is based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. On the other hand, Part “B” candidates must appear in an entrance test conducted by the university for admission.
Calcutta University offers a Ph.D. program at the research level in various specializations. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a relevant Postgraduate Degree with a minimum of 55% (50% for reserved categories)from a recognized university. Selection is determined through an Entrance Test conducted by the university.
Selection Process for Calcutta University Ph.D.
The admission process for a Ph.D. at CU involves a Written Test, followed by the evaluation of a Research Proposal and an interview. Candidates with UGC/CSIR/JRF (NET)/SET/SLET/GATE or DST (Inspire) Scholarship or Teacher Fellowship are exempted from the Written Test. Additionally, individuals who have completed M.Phil/M.Tech/MD/ME/M.Pharma degrees from a recognized university are also exempted from the university written test.
