The admission procedure of UIET is quite simple and involves a few steps to be followed. Admission to each course offered by the institute varies from one another. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs under various specializations. Various specializations in engineering under the Ph.D. program are also offered by UIET. 

UIET B.E Admissions

The admission to B.E program takes place through JEE main examination. JEE stands for joint entrance examination that is conducted by CBSE board. Students with a valid JEE score are given preferences. The institute offers B.E under six specializations namely Electrical & electronics engineering, Electronics & communication engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information technology, Computer science & engineering and Biotechnology. The eligibility criteria and admission procedure to B.E are:

• The candidates are required to have passed 10+2 with at least 60% (55% for reserved categories) of marks in aggregate from a recognized board in order to be eligible for JEE Main examination
• Aspirants must appear and qualify JEE (Joint entrance examination) Main examination with a valid score
• 10+2 marks and JEE Main scores are considered during the admission

After qualifying the examination, they are advised to appear in counseling 

UIET M. Tech Admissions

Candidates seeking admission to M. Tech programs are required to have appeared and qualified GATE examination. The examination is followed by counseling and an interview conducted by the institute itself. The program is offered under five specializations namely computer science & engineering, electronics & communication engineering, information technology, biotechnology, and mechanical engineering. The candidates are required to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria and follow the admission procedure.

• The candidates seeking admission must hold B. E or B. Tech degree securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from Punjab university or any other university which is recognized by Punjab University
• Candidates must appear and qualify GATE examination in order to be eligible for admission to M. Tech program
• After qualifying the GATE examination, they are advised to appear for counseling which is conducted by the respective department of the institute followed by the interview.

UIET Ph.D. admissions

Candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. programs must fulfill the eligibility criteria designed by the institute. The institute offers Ph.D. program under various specializations namely Electrical & electronics engineering, Electronics & communication engineering, Computer science & engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information technology, and Biotechnology.

• Candidates are required to have completed their master’s course such as M. E., M. Tech or M. Sc in Electronics/ communication/computer science/ IT and they must have secured at least 60% of marks in aggregate
• They must have a valid GATE score as well
• Aspirants are required to appear and qualify the written test conducted by the institute followed by the interview
• Candidates must qualify the test and interview separately
• After qualifying the test and interview they must submit all the relevant documents for verification

• Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria are required to visit the official website of the institute to get themselves registered for the admission
• They can fill the application form by visiting the official website of the institute
• They must ensure that all the details filled in by them are correct and can be represented while asked
• Any incorrect information may lead to the cancellation of the candidature
• After all the details are filled correctly, the application form is to be submitted along with the application fee
• Documents required are all the relevant marksheets and passing certificates, payment details, scanned passport sized photographs of the candidate, domicile certificate (if required) and school leaving certificate.
