National Institute of Technology (NIT) - Puducherry, Karaikal Admission
National Institute of Technology, Puducherry is one of the 31 NITs in India. The institute offers various programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. It also offers a program at the Doctorate level. The institute offers B. Tech at undergraduate, M. tech at postgraduate, and PhD at the Doctorate level. These programs are offered under several specializations. Interested candidates seeking admission can choose the field as per their interest.
Since the institute accepts online mode of application, the admission procedure to the programs offered by the institute needs to be completed online by visiting the official website of the institute. Candidates, before taking admission, must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute.
Minimum Educational Qualification
- For admission to B. Tech, the candidates must have successfully passed senior secondary school with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as main subjects securing at least 75% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
- Candidates with top 20 percentile in senior secondary school are also eligible to apply for admission.
- For admission to M. Tech, the candidates must possess a B. Tech degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
- M. Sc candidates who have specialized in Computer Science and MCA candidates with at least 55% marks in aggregate can also apply for admission to M. Tech.
- Candidates seeking admission to the PhD program must possess a master’s degree in the relevant field with at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
Admission to B. Tech program at NIT Puducherry
NIT Puducherry Courses include B. Tech as an undergraduate program and the program is offered under four specializations namely Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
- Candidates with a valid score in JEE Main examination are eligible to apply for admission.
- Besides holding a good rank in JEE Main examination, the shortlisted candidates must sit through the counseling procedure conducted at the institute.
- 50% of the total seats are reserved for students belonging to Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam, and Andaman & Nicobar.
Admission to M. Tech program at NIT Puducherry
M. Tech is offered at the postgraduate level. The course if offered in Computer Science & Engineering. Interested candidates can fill the application form available on the official website of the institute.
- For admission, the candidates must qualify the written examination test followed by personal interview round conducted at the institute.
- The admission can also be sought through CCMT which is an All India level counseling.
Admission to the PhD program at NIT Puducherry
The National Institute of Technology, Puducherry offers PhD in nine different specializations.
- For admission to the PhD program, the candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in written examination test and/or personal interview round conducted the institute.
- The program is available in full time as well as part time.
- Candidates seeking admission as full time must hold a valid score in GATE/UGC/CSIR/NET examination.
Application procedure of NIT Puducherry
For admission to B. Tech, the candidates can directly apply by visiting the institute’s official website.
Candidates seeking admission to M. Tech and PhD must apply by filling the application form available on the official website of the institute.
Candidates must process the payment of INR 1000 (INR 500 for reserved categories) as application fee while applying for admission.
