National Institute of Technology (NIT Nagaland) was established in the academic year of 2009 and is a higher education technical institute. It is situated in Dimapur, Nagaland. It was set up with the help of the Government of India under the Eleventh five-year plan. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology and one among the newly approved NITs. The institute imparts knowledge and helps aspirants grow in their chosen fields. The campus was previously set up in Silchar for two years and then the permanent campus was identified, and the campus was shifted to Dimapur. The first batch of NIT Nagaland studied at NIT Silchar, after that it was shifted to Dimapur.

The infrastructure of the institute the developing consistently. The campus is spread over an area of approx. 300 acres. There is a huge change that can be seen in terms of infrastructure. The campus is surrounded by scenic beauty of Nagaland. The campus is fully enabled with Wi-Fi. One of the central facilities of this institute is its central library. It provides modern collection of informative books, knowledge resources and innovative information. More of the important aspects are Data Centre, Hostels, SC/ST cells, Bank and ATM, medical Facilities and Post office. Well-equipped laboratories are another aspect. The institute has six hostels named after mountains. At present, the institute has four sixty-four seated Boy's hostels, one fifty-six seated Girl's hostel and a brand new thirty-two seated PG Boys' hostel. The names of the hostels are Saramati, Japfu, Tiyi, Patkai, Dzukou and Zanibu.

Enough sports facilities are provided under indoor and outdoor games. Indoor games include Badminton, Table Tennis, carom and Chess. Cricket and Football are outdoor games being played at the institute. New football and cricket stadium have been constructed in the campus itself.

There are seven academic departments namely Civil Engineering, Computer science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Science & Humanities.

The institute offers Undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs. Courses offered under Undergraduate (B.Tech) programs are Civil Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The postgraduate programs (M.Tech) include courses like Computer Science & Engineering, Power Systems Engineering and VLSI systems. This college also offers program in PhD.

The faculty members are knowledgeable and find it easy to express their ideas to the students. All the professors are well educated and highly qualified. Most of the faculty members are experienced. They understand the requirements of the students and teach them accordingly.

First of all, candidates are required to have appeared and qualified in JEE Mains and GATE examination. Admission depends on the merit list. The admission procedure is quite simple and easy to follow. For admission to B.Tech,

• The candidates should have passed senior secondary school from CBSE or any other recognized board fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria

For admission to Postgraduate program the candidates,

• Should possess a graduate degree in the field of Science & Technology from a recognized university fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria
• Then a counseling round is conducted in order to get the colleges allotted to the students

Aspirants must visit the official website of the institute in order to register themselves and follow the guidelines prescribed by the Government. If the JEE Mains or GATE is qualified with a valid score, candidates can update on the official website.

Scholarship is also offered to meritorious students. 100% tuition fee is waived off for SC/ST/PH students.
