National Institute of Technology, Shillong

National Institute of technology Meghalaya is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology. The institute is in Shillong, Meghalaya. It was established in the academic year of 2010 with financial support from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. This institute was given 98^th rank among 3000 in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) engineering ranking. The institute was constructed to impart the quality education in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology.

The campus of the institute is surrounded by scenic beauty of Meghalaya. It is spread over an area of approx. 300 acres (73 acres to be added soon). There are academic and administrative buildings. Boys' and girls' hostels are provided to its outstation candidates, a health center which provides you the modern health facilities, an auditorium that can accommodate approx. 1500 students at a time. The central library is one of the main features that is fully-fledged with all the recent informative books and study material. Popular titles are Engineering, Technology, Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management to enhance the ability to perceive of the students.

There are two major fests organized by the university. One is Cognitia (Tech Fest) and the other is Shishir (Cultural fest).

There are total nine departments in the institute namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Humanities & Social Science.

There are three programs offered Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD. These programs are offered under various specializations. There are five courses offered under undergraduate (B.tech), Postgraduate (M.Tech) has five courses, M.Sc has three courses and MBA in various specialization (to be started soon). The institute has one of the best faculty members. Most of the members are experienced in their respective fields. Their main aim is to impart knowledge and wisdom to their students. They help students to their maximum extent and try to make learning easier for them. They are highly qualified and well mannered.

Admission procedure and eligibility criteria for NIT Meghalaya:

The admission procedure and eligibility criteria for different programs are different. The candidates seeking admission to undergraduate programs need to have fulfilled the eligibility criteria. Below mentioned is the eligibility criteria for admission to Undergraduate program (B.Tech),

• For admission to UG program, it is mandatory for the candidate to have passed senior secondary school with minimum 75% marks from a recognized board (65% for reserved categories)
• Candidates are required to have passed JEE Mains exam with a valid score accepted by the university
•  After the examination they should be eligible for the counseling conducted by JoSSA (Joint seat Allocation Authority)

Candidates seeking admission to postgraduate (M.Tech) program need to fulfill the minimum educational qualification.

• Candidates should possess a B.Tech/B.E. degree to apply for M.Tech, with a minimum of 65% marks
• Admission is based on GATE examination score and counseling conducted by Centralized counseling for M.Tech (CCMT)

Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc program should follow the basic requirement,

• Candidate should hold a bachelor's degree securing minimum of 60% of marks (55% for reserved categories)
• Admission is based upon the written examination conducted by the university
