National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur Admission
The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, also referred to as NIT Jamshedpur, accepts online mode of application. The institute offers various courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The institute also offers programs at the Doctorate level. The programs offered by the institute include B. Tech, M. Tech, M. Sc, MCA and PhD. These programs are offered under several specializations, thus offering students a pool of options to choose from.
The candidates are shortlisted based on the cut off list released by the institute. NIT Jamshedpur Cut off list decides admission to the various programs offered by the institute.
The application procedure for B. Tech usually starts in the month of December. Similarly, the admission procedures for M. Tech and M. Sc start in the month of September.

Admission Procedure of Different Courses at NIT Jamshedpur
Admission to the Undergraduate Programs
The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur offers B. Tech program at the undergraduate level. The program is offered under 7 different specializations.
The candidates are primarily required to qualify JEE Main examination in order to be eligible for admission to B. Tech at NIT Jamshedpur.
- The candidates seeking admission to B. Tech must visit the official website of JEE Main and register themselves for the entrance examination.
- JEE Main is a national level entrance examination qualifying which ensures admission to the B. Tech program offered by the institute.
- Candidates who qualify JEE Main examination must sit through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) Counseling conducted at the national level.
Admission to the Postgraduate Programs
NIT Jamshedpur Courses include M. Tech, M. Sc, and MCA programs at the postgraduate level. The candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the national or state level entrance examinations. Each postgraduate program is offered under various specializations.
Admission to M. Tech
The program is offered under 16 different specialization. The admission to M. Tech depends on candidates' performance in the qualifying examination.
- For admission to the M. Tech program, the candidates must have qualified GATE examination.
- A valid score in GATE examination would get students through the admission procedure.
- Candidates with a valid score in GATE examination must sit through CCMT (Central Counseling for M. Tech) counseling process.
Admission to M. Sc
The candidates seeking admission to M. Sc must visit the official website of JAM and get themselves registered.
- A valid score and rank in JAM examination is the sole method for admission to the M. Sc program offered by the institute.
- Candidates who have qualified JAM must appear in CCMN (Central Counseling for M. Sc) counseling procedure.
Admission to MCA
- Admission to MCA is done based on candidates' performance in NIMCET examination.
Admission to PhD
NIT Jamshedpur offers PhD program at the Doctorate level. The candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the qualifying examination.
- For admission to the PhD program, the candidates must qualify the written entrance examination conducted by the institute.
- Final shortlisting is done based on their performance in the written examination followed by the personal interview round.

For MCA
- Admission to MCA requires a bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject in at least senior secondary school securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
For PhD program
- For admission to the PhD program, the candidates must possess a master's degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
