The NIT Durgapur currently has 4000 students enrolled, 14 departments, 5 centres of excellence, 224 faculty members, and. Four BTech programmes, 19 MTech programmes, three MSc programmes, one MCA programme, one MBA programme, and one MSW programe along with one PhD programme are available at NIT Durgapur Courses. The two of the highly rated main programmes of the institute, with an emphasis on engineering, are BTech and MTech. While MTech admissions require GATE scores, BTech admissions are based on JEE Main rank. For the BTech programme, candidates seeking admission must achieve a JEE Main exam rank between 4400 and 40000. The ideal GATE score for the MTech programme is between 400 and 800.

NIT Durgapur Admission starts on the 4th of November 2022, the online admission/ enrollment were open for all the students who wish to apply for NIT Durgapur Courses based upon the cutoffs and the eligibility criteria of the institute. From November 9th to the 11th of November the students were required to report to the hostel and the classes for various courses began on the 14th of November.

As you submit, you will see a message confirming your submission’s success. The NIT Durgapur Admission Committee must approve your application. Upon approval, you will get a message from pr@admin.nitdgp.ac.in with links to download your NIT Durgapur admissions documents. This could take two to three days. Following that, you will hear from the appropriate class teachers to begin the online academic activities.

A contemporary central library at NIT Durgapur houses more than 1.7 lakh print volumes, including technical books, reports, standards, CDs, and back issues of journals. The library also offers reading rooms with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. This location is across from the High Voltage Laboratory. The library is an institutional member of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), Current Science Association, Bangalore, American Centre Library, Kolkata, and DELNET (Developing Library Network).
It is also a member of the INDEST-AICTE consortium, which offers desktop access to high-quality e-resources (online journals) like IEL Online (IEEE/IEE Electronic Library), Springer Verlag’s Link, Proquest, ACM journals, ASCE, ASME, Nature Magazine, Indian Standards (Intranet version), and ASTM journals & Standards, among others. Its library includes thousands of electronic books on computer science (published by Springer).
Over 100 companies participated in the NIT Durgapur Placements 2022, and 530 or more students were placed. The CSE department has the highest placement rate, at 95.24 per cent. Rankings can be a helpful tool for determining how well a school performs academically compared to its peer schools. NIT Durgapur is one of the best engineering schools in India, it has gained recognition both domestically and internationally. Recently, the US News Engineering Rankings 2021 assigned NIT Durgapur to position 713. And in NIRF Rankings, the Outlook-ICARE Rankings, THE WEEK Rankings, and many other national ranking agencies in India have all given the institute top rankings in addition to these.
In comparison to last year’s rankings, NIT Durgapur’s performance in the NIRF Rankings 2022 has improved. In both the NIRF Engineering Rankings and the NIRF Overall Rankings, the institute is ranked at positions 34 and 72, respectively. Additionally, the institution has maintained its 24th place in The Week’s ranking of the best technical universities in India for 2021.

NIT Durgapur was Founded in the year 1960. National Institute of Technology Durgapur was earlier known as the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur. It is a public technical university located in West Bengal in Durgapur city. It is one of India’s oldest technical universities. It has a huge campus of area around 187 acres (0.75 km²). The NIT Durgapur has been ranked 7th among the NITs by the NIRF, 34th for engineering, and 72nd in overall in India in the year 2022.
It was established under an Act of Parliament among other eight colleges like a cooperative venture between the Government of India and the Government of West Bengal. It was done to promote engineering education in the country along with enabling national integration. NIT Durgapur became a fully funded institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, managed by an autonomous Board of Governors. It is also one of East India’s institutions chosen as a Lead Institute under the World Bank-funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Indian government. NIT Durgapur is also the Lead Institute under the World Bank-funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Indian government. The Indian Union Government designated it as an "Institute of National Importance" in 2007.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India, spoke to the institute on November 22, 2013, at the occasion of the 9th convocation. He commended the institute for its work in research and innovation.

Every year in February, the National Institute of Technology Durgapur, Aarohan hosts its annual Techno-management festival. It includes a variety of activities, including contests, displays, workshops, and speeches from special guests. The virtual mode was to Organise Aarohan 2021 due to the pandemic.
Deserving and meritorious students are given financial aid and scholarships by NIT Durgapur. The institute currently has 31 scholarships available. Each student is only given one scholarship per academic year, which can either take the form of tuition reimbursement or a monthly stipend.
