Vidyasiri Scholarship: A Comprehensive Guide
The Vidyasiri-Food and Accommodation Scholarship Scheme is targeted for the students of backward classes who are pursuing any course at the post-matriculation level in government, local body, aided, and recognized private institutions affiliated to statutory universities in Karnataka. Students have to link their Aadhaar Number to their bank account to avail of the scheme. To get the benefit under the scheme, the students shall be citizens of India and permanent residents of Karnataka. They must be listed under backward classes by the Government of India or the State Government. The students studying in post-matric courses but who have not secured admission in any departmental or government-funded student hostel are eligible to apply. The scheme accordingly provides a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,500 for 10 months, aggregating Rs. 15,000 per annum, directly credited into the bank account of students. His/ her family income must be within specific limits depending upon the category in which he or she has applied. It involves minimum marks that the student should have scored on previous year annual examination for fresh and renewal students.

The department has laid down certain requirements which a candidate needs to fulfill before applying for this scheme. The eligibility criteria for availing of the vidyasiri scholarship will be as follows:
- The candidate should be a Citizen of India.
- Should be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
- The caste of the student should be incorporated in the list of other Backward Classes as notified by the Government of India or the State Government.
- Particulars Eligibility : Admission to post-matric courses in government/local body institutions/aided institutions/non-aided recognized private institutions affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka.
- Gross Annual Income to be less than Rs. 2.50 lakh in case of students belonging to Category-I and Rs. 1 lakh for students belonging to Category-2A, 3A, and 3B.
- The applicant student must be from the rural area, and his/her studying/college/institution must be at least 5 km away from his/her residence. Still, the students of urban areas can apply if they are studying in a city/town other than the place of their residence.
- Minimum required marks in the annual examination of the previous year for both fresh as well renewal applicants are given as under -

Note: Students unable to attend the examination for medical reasons should submit a medical certificate certified by the Medical Board.
Vidyasiri Scholarship: Scholarship Scheme List
Candidates who wish to pursue post-secondary training in government, government-aided, or residential colleges can avail of the Vidyasiri scholarship. The following are details regarding different schemes offered under the Vidyasiri scholarship:
- The state will be re-presenting the entire amount of course fees for all classes selected by the candidate. The fee concession scheme for PMS FAAS, FC, and NUR under the Vidyasiri scholarship.
- Fee gesture and free guest house accommodations for post-matric students: In this Vidyasiri scholarship scheme, selected post-matric students will receive fee concession along with free guest house stay facilities.
- Prathiba Puraskar above 90% in SSLC and PUC Vidyasiri Scholarship scheme Candidates are eligible if they pass the grade X and PUC board exams with above 90% in SSLC and PUC Prathiba Puraskar.

Students Not Eligible for a Scholarship
It is equally important to know what students are not covered under this scheme. The same is enumerated below:
- Students who pursue equivalent courses more than once are not eligible; for example- the pursuit of B. Com after B.A (English), LLB after B.Ed. and so on.
- Students who are pursuing postgraduate medical courses while practicing medicine are not eligible.
- Students who have changed courses more than once are not eligible.
- Not more than two male members of the same family. However, restriction in this regard does not relate to females.
Benefits of Scholarship
All the eligible candidates selected for the Vidyasiri scholarship will be provided a monthly stipend of Rs. 1500/- for a period of 10 months. Hence, an amount of Rs. 15,000/- is sanctioned per year under this scheme. Students should note that these benefits are subjected to other provisions as explained below.
The grants available in the respective academic year are usually reallocated as per the following category reservation.

Vidyasiri Scholarship Selection Criteria
In the search for the selection process, students should first get the vidyasiri scholarship 2024 apply online option at any browser, preferably from a computer. The rest of the selection process steps in short are given as under:
- Check the eligibility criteria based on the latest advertisement.
- Apply with the prescribed documents and bank account details online and offline. The hard copy is to be sent to the concerned college.

- However, to apply for the scholarship, go to the homepage and click on the 'For Students' Use column. Click on Online and Offline Application. Alternatively, you can also visit the application portal at https://ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/.
- Next, you see an option 'Click here to Apply' alongside 'Online Application'. You can choose from the two languages, English and Kannada, from the option available at the topmost right corner of the landing page.
- The already enrolled students have to click the column on the right side to log in to the portal. Whereas, the fresh applicants will click the column on the left side saying, "Click here to create a new account."
- Submit information such as Aadhar Number, Gender, and Captcha. Read the terms written at the end of the page' tick off the box, and then click on Proceed to get your registered ID and login credentials.
- Login to SSP, using an ID and password received as described in step 4. After successful login, fill in the essential personal and academic information in the application form.
- Upload required documents such as caste certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card, bank account details, and mark sheets. After submitting your application online, take out the print of the same and submit it to your college along with all the documents.
- Verification by concerned Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer and District Backward Classes Welfare Officer.
- Once the confirmation comes online from the officers, submit the 75% attendance certificate issued by the college authorities to the Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer.
- Wait for final confirmation; grant disbursement will follow shortly.
Vidyasiri Scholarship: Check the Status of Application Made
After submission, you can check the status of scholarship application through the steps below, once you have applied for Karnataka ePass Scholarship:
- Go to the official website of Electronic Payment and Application System of Scholarship.
- Now, click on "Karnataka Epass Application Status".
- Enter your application number.
- Now, select the year of study.
- Select the correct type of SSLC pass and enter the passed year.
- Now enter your SSLC registration number and date of birth.
- Finally click the "Get Status."
- Now the Kar Epass application status details will appear on your screen.
Vidyasiri Scholarship: Rewards
The following prizes will be given in this scholarship:
1. A scholarship of 1000 students belongs to the SSLC category.
2. 500 scholarships are being offered to students belonging to the Class 12 category.
3. The candidates who pursue their Graduation/ Postgraduation (General courses) get separate 500 scholarships.
4. Scholarships are offered to those candidates who are pursuing Professional graduate degrees/ Professional postgraduate degrees which comes in Technical, Medical, and other related science.
5. Scholarship Amount to SSLC candidates is INR 10,100
6. Scholarship Amount to Class 12 candidates is INR 15,000.
7. A scholarship grant of INR 20,000 will be provided to the graduation degree pursuing candidates.
8. The postgraduation course pursuing candidates will get a scholarship amount of INR 25,000.
9. Pratibha Puraskar Scholarship scheme has the facility to directly credit the scholarship amount into the selected candidate's bank account.

Apart from the mentioned documents, the students need to ensure that their Aadhar number is linked to the bank account through which they will be receiving the funds for the Vidyasiri scholarship.
