The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is the official ranking system adopted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIRF evaluates universities based on five broad parameters, including Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and Perception (PR).
The universities are ranked based on a total score out of 100, with each parameter carrying a weightage of 100, 100, 150, 100, and 50 respectively. The rankings are determined through a combination of data analysis and surveys conducted among students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in 2015 to rank higher education institutions in India. NIRF uses a methodology that evaluates universities based on five broad parameters: Teaching, Learning & Resources; Research and Professional Practice; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach and Inclusivity; and perception.

Pilot Salary in India 2024: Starting Salary, Requirements, Qualifications, Per Month Salary
By - Nikita Parmar 2024-09-06 10:59:22 , 6 min readAccording to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the top three universities in India are the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, and IIT Delhi.
University rankings in India can provide useful information, but they should not be the only factor you consider when choosing a university. Rankings can be biased, and some may prioritize factors that are not important to you personally.
NIRF releases its university rankings annually, typically in April. Other rankings may be updated less frequently.
The NIRF considers a variety of factors, including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
Rankings can provide a starting point for your research, but you should also consider your personal preferences, such as location, program offerings, and campus culture.
Yes, a lower-ranked university can still provide a quality education. Rankings should be just one factor you consider when choosing a university.
Not necessarily. Private universities may have more resources and offer more specialized programs, but public universities often have a long-standing reputation for excellence and may offer more affordable tuition.
Some Indian university rankings, such as the QS World University Rankings, are recognized internationally. However, you should also consider other international rankings and reputations when evaluating universities.
In some cases, employers may consider university rankings when evaluating job candidates. However, job prospects also depend on factors such as your degree, experience, and skills.
To improve your chances of attending a top-ranked university in India, you should focus on achieving excellent grades, pursuing extracurricular activities, and preparing for entrance exams. You can also research scholarship opportunities and consider applying to multiple universities.
