The online registration process for NEST 2023, which is the academic session for 2023-28, commenced on February 27 at 12:00 Noon and will remain open until May 17, 2023. One week prior, NISER and UM-DAE CEBS revealed the application form and examination dates for NEST 2023. The exam is scheduled to take place on June 24, 2023, across multiple centers (120 centers) throughout India on Saturday, with the first session beginning at 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM and the second session starting at 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM.
Starting from 2023, the SMAS score will be calculated by considering the best three subject scores from four subjects for both NISER and CEBS merit list preparation for NEST 2023. The calculation method for NEST 2022 NISER merit list preparation considered the SMAS score of all four subjects. It is suggested that candidates go through the NEST 2023 eligibility criteria before completing the application process.
NEST 2023 will be a computer-based examination held in about 120 cities across India. The exam will have four sections, each with objective (MCQ) type questions, and each section will carry 50 marks. The four sections will comprise questions related to Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Candidates are advised to attempt all sections to enhance their chances of obtaining a better total score. The best three scores out of four sections will be used to prepare the merit list for both NISER and CEBS, and the section with the lowest score will not be considered. The duration of the exam will be three hours and thirty minutes.
