What is MAT Exam?

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level entrance exam for MBA/PGDM admissions administered by the All India Management Association (AIMA). The exam is administered four times a year, in February, May, December, and December. Qualifying candidates are eligible for admission to over 800 business schools that accept MAT scores.

MAT Exam Pattern 2023

The exam pattern for the MAT December 2023 exam has been released by the All India Management Association (AIMA). It is essential for candidates planning to appear for the MAT exam to acquaint themselves with the MAT exam pattern 2023 to prepare effectively. The entrance exam will be conducted by AIMA in three different modes, namely, Paper Based Test (PBT), Computer Based Test (CBT), and Internet Based Test (IBT). The MAT exam for the PBT mode is scheduled for 9th December, 2023, CBT 1 & 2 on 3rd December, 2023 & 16th December 2023 and IBT from 6 - 17 December, 2023

In the MAT December  2023 exam pattern, there are five sections with an equal number of questions.

  • There will be 40 questions in each section of the MAT question paper. 
  • There are a total of 200 questions.
  • All questions are in multiple-choice format.

The MAT question paper includes challenging questions in this particular area. The section in the MAT exam pattern is further divided into two parts – Intelligence Reasoning and Critical Reasoning. In the Reasoning section, questions may appear as standalone or as sets of 3-4 questions.   • Questions asked are based on Data Analysis shows that questions on Data Analysis are based on text, tables, graphs (line, area), charts (column, bar, pie), and Venn diagrams.
  • Data can be presented in the form of tables, charts, or graphs.
  • More than half of the section is devoted to data interpretation (DI), with the remainder devoted to data sufficiency and data comparison.
  • This section of the MAT question paper will contain both set and individual questions.

Section-5: Indian and Global Environment

The Indian and Global Environment section in the MAT exam is akin to the General Knowledge (GK) section. It demands a broad knowledge base encompassing various topics such as Business & Economy, notable personalities, current affairs, static GK, and more. To excel in this section, candidates are expected to be well-informed about a wide range of subjects from both national and international perspectives.
