In 1971, Madurai Kamaraj University founded the Directorate of Distance Education (MKU DDE) as the Institute of Correspondence Course and Continuing Education. Over 100 undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate diploma, diploma, and certificate courses are offered by the DDE in arts, science, business management, and education.
The MKU DDE is accredited with an "A" by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and recognized by the UGC and Distance Education Bureau. Additionally, it is a "University for Potential Excellence".
Students nationwide who cannot register in on-campus programs can receive affordable and accessible higher education from the MKU DDE. The Madurai Kamaraj University DDE scholarships include a 100% tuition exemption for physically challenged students and a 50% fee concession for defense employees.
