What is JoSAA?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) was started by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India, to conduct the JEE Main and JEE Advance seat allocation for admissions to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government technical Institutes. The MHRD introduced this seat allocation authority to reduce the vacant seats in engineering colleges in India. JoSAA functions as a single platform to conduct admissions to these institutes. JoSAA conducts the entire seat allocation procedure and ensures that the process is smooth, transparent, and most importantly effective for engineering aspirants across the country.

The JoSAA registration process 2024 will begin on June 10, 2024. Interested candidates can register through the JoSAA official website- josaa.nic.in. The detailed schedule of the JoSAA 2024 counselling is provided on the official website.
JoSAA 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria to participate in the seat allocation rounds are listed below:
- Candidates who have qualified for JEE Main 2024 will be able to take part in the seat allocation round.
- Candidates who have qualified for JEE Advanced 2024 will also be able to take part in the seat allocation round.
- Candidates should secure a minimum of 75% for general and 65% SC, ST, and PwD candidates in Class 12 from a recognized board or must be in the top 20 percentile.

Steps to Register for JoSAA 2024
The steps to register for JoSAA 2024 are listed below:
- Visit the official website josaa.nic.in.
- Click on "JoSAA Counselling Registration" option.
- Next, enter the JEE Main or JEE Advance application number and password
- Next click on the submit button.
- After submitting the details, a new window comprising all the details of the candidate (as entered in JEE Main/JEE Advanced) will be displayed. Candidates must cross-check all the details diligently and then change their passwords.
- Candidates can only change their contact details during the JoSAA counseling registration 2024. Candidates should provide a valid contact number or email ID during the registration process.
- Candidates must then verify all the details again and then click on "Submit".
- Once registration is successful, candidates can check the choices of engineering institutions and the branches available based on their rank.
- Candidates can choose the available institutions and branches.
- After filling out the choices, candidates must lock their choices. This is a required step in the JoSAA 2024 seat allotment process

JoSAA 2024 Registration Important Guidelines
- During the JoSAA registration, some of the things can be edited whereas some details cannot be edited
- Details that cannot be edited are the candidate’s name, guardian’s name, date of birth, category, and class 12 examination board.
- Details that can be edited are gender, nationality, state of eligibility, and contact number.
Documents Required for JoSAA 2024 Counseling
Candidates should bring all the documents listed below to the reporting centers during the JoSAA 2024 Counseling:
- Class 10th Standard Mark Sheet or Date of Birth Proof
- Class 12 (or equivalent) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate
- JEE Main/JEE Advance Score Card
- JEE Main/JEE Advance Admit Card
- Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter
- Registration and Filled Choices for Seat Allotment
- Three passport-size photos same as the one in JEE Main application form
- Proof of Seat Acceptance Fee Payment
- Valid photo Identity Card
- Medical Certificate
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- OCI Certificate or PIO Card (if applicable)
