The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) established the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) in the year 2018. It was implemented to make the admissions process smoother, more effective, efficient, transparent, and much faster. Candidates who pass the JEE Main or JEE Advanced in order to participate in the counselling and admission process of 114 institutes (including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs) are eligible to apply.
The main objective of introducing JoSAA Counselling as a single counselling platform is to bring down the number of vacant seats in engineering colleges across the country. Candidates with qualifying marks in JEE Main or JEE Advanced must participate in the JoSAA 2024 Counselling by registering themselves through the JoSAA Registration link. The admission process will help candidates get admission in various renowned engineering institutes across the country. The JoSAA Admission process for admission to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs and 38 other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) is presided over by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Eligible candidates will be assigned seats in seven rounds of JoSAA Counselling 2024. The JoSAA Seat Allotment will be done based on the merits of candidates and the preference of colleges and courses that they filled up at the time of registration.
All the candidates with qualifying marks in JEE Main and JEE Advanced Exam will be eligible for admission through JoSAA Counselling. Some of the prominent colleges such as Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and IIIT Bhubaneswar also grant admission through JoSAA Counselling Admission Process.
