The Jawaharlal Nehru University constituted under the Jawaharlal Nehru University Act 1966, came into existence in 1969. It is one of the top universities in India. JNU has been accredited with a grade of ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university's objective is to take special measures to facilitate students and teachers from all over India to join the University and participate in its academic programs. The basic academic units of JNU are not single discipline departments but are multi-discipline Schools of study. Some Schools are made up of a number of Centres which constitute the operating within the framework of a School. It has 13 Schools and 8 Special Centers at present. The Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission to its courses through various entrance exams for its UG, PG, Ph.D., and Diploma Courses. Students who want admission at JNU should meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by the university. Some of the entrance exams accepted for admission are mentioned below.
- CUET UG: JNU offers admissions in UG and COP courses (B.A.-M.A. integrated program in Foreign Languages, B.Sc.-M.Sc. Integrated Course in Ayurveda Biology, and Certificate of Proficiency course) for academic session 2023-24 through Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET-UG)-2023 conducted by the NTA.
- JEE Mains: Admission in B.Tech. course of JNU for the academic year 2023-24, will be through JEE Mains.
- CUET PG: Admission for the M.A., M.Sc., MCA, MPH, M.Tech., Post Graduate Diploma, and Advanced Diploma courses will be through CUET (PG) 2023.

JNU Entrance Exam: GAT-B
At JNU the students are admitted to the M.Sc. (Computational & Integrative Sciences) program each year on the basis of their performance in the nationwide entrance tests conducted by GAT-B and/or JNU as per the DBT and university rules. JNU Entrance Exam: CAT
The Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission for the MBA course on the basis of the CAT percentile of the candidates. Each applicant applying for admission to the MBA course must submit his/her CAT Registration Number and CAT Score. JNU will use the CAT score for short-listing the applicants for GD and PI for the MBA course. The final list of selected candidates will be based on the CAT score and marks obtained in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview with respective weightage as 70%, 10%, and 20% of the CAT score.

JNU Entrance Exam: Computer-Based Test
JNU offers admission to a few courses that are admitted on a merit basis on their performance in the Computer-Based Test (CBT). These tests are also known as JNUEE or JNU Entrance Exam. Candidates should note that there are no viva voice examinations held for admission to these courses. JNU Entrance Exam: Ph.D. Entrance Exams
Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission to Ph.D. courses through CBT-based entrance exams. JNU offers admission to Ph.D. courses to JRF holders or to GATE holders in the School of Engineering. If there is bunching in the JRF and GATE categories merit shall be drawn according to the marks obtained in the qualifying Post-Graduate degree, and for a further tie, the higher marks obtained by the candidate (s) in the graduate degree shall be considered. In case of any further tie, the marks secured by the candidate(s) in the 10+2 examination shall be the basis for determining merit.
- Admission of JRF Holders in Ph.D. Programs:
- JNU offers admission to those candidates who fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for admission of candidates to Ph.D. courses as mentioned in the respective schools/centers and have qualified for Junior Research Fellowship of CSIR, UGC National Eligibility Test (NET), ICMR, AYUSH, DBT examinations are eligible to apply separately in the prescribed form under this category in the respective school/center/Special Centre wherever separate intake through JRF category is available.
- Such candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the Computer Based Test (CBT). However, candidates shall have to appear for an interview and their selection will depend on their performance in the interview. Candidates who have appeared in these examinations, but results awaited may also apply under this category.
- Candidates may make sure that their JRF certificate is valid at the time of physical verification of documents. Candidature will be rejected if found, that their JRF certificate is not valid at the time of physical verification of the documents. In the case of candidates applying under the JRF category selection will be done on the basis of a 100% viva score.

- The intake will be as per the availability of the number of fellowships and the requirement of seats in the School. In the case of candidates applying under the GATE category, selection will be done on the basis of a 100% Viva score.
