Jadavpur University is a State University founded on December 24, 2024, under the Jadavpur University Act. The university believes in achieving self-reliance through the empowerment of youth by imparting the best global knowledge, technical education, and awareness of the social, cultural, political, and economic realities of the state, the nation, and the world. In the NIRF rankings 2023, Jadavpur University Kolkata has earned the following ranks: 4th in ‘Universities’, 13th in ‘Overall’, 10th in ‘Engineering’, 18th in ‘Pharmacy’, and 19th in the ‘Research’ category. 

At the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels, Jadavpur University provides a variety of degrees in fields like engineering, science, the arts, social sciences, and management. It also provides online courses and credential programs for working professionals and lifelong learners. Jadavpur University's admission is determined by merit and entrance exams like the JEE Main, GATE, CAT, and GRE.

Manabendra Nath Roy

A well-known philosopher of the 20th century, Manabendra Nath Roy was also an Indian Marxist revolutionary, radical activist, and political theorist. Both the Indian Communist Party and the Mexican Communist Party were founded by Roy. His interest in social and political issues eventually led to involvement with various Indian groups engaged in an attempt to overthrow British colonial rule by acts of terrorism. To establish a medium ground between liberalism and communism after World War II, Roy renounced traditional Marxism and started to advocate radical humanism.

Ipsita Biswas

Indian terminal ballistics expert Ipsita Biswas, a Scientist with more than 20 years of experience heads the technical divisions at Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL). She was awarded the Narishakti Puruskar in 2019 in recognition of her achievements in the nation's paramilitary organizations, military forces, and women's empowerment in the sphere of defense research and development. Her work includes the development of less lethal plastic bullets, which have been used by the Indian Paramilitary for crowd control.

Saroj Ghose

An Indian museum developer and science communicator, Saroj Ghose. He is also known as the ‘Father of Science Center Movement in India’. He worked for the Indian government as director-general of the National Council of Science Museums, which resulted in the setting up of Science Centers in different parts of the country, and as director of the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum. In addition, he presided over the International Council of Museums in Paris from 1992 to 1998. Numerous honors were bestowed on him, one of which was for “Best Effort in Science Popularization Among Children”. He turned a municipal garbage ground at Worli in Mumbai into the world's first Science Park.

Subir Raha served as the former chairman of India's largest oil and gas producer, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and was a former Director. His achievements in the energy industry earned him the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian accolade, in 2006. He developed the Petroleum Federation of India (Petrofed), and the Chamber of Commerce for the Oil and Gas Industry. He is a founding member of the Petrotech Society, chartered to promote academics in India's Oil & Gas Industry.

Parambrata Chattopadhyay

Parambrata Chattopadhyay is an Indian actor and director. Bengali television and movies served as the foundation of Parambrata's early career. He has performed as the fictitious character Topshe from Feluda under the guidance of Sandip Ray. He has acted in many television series, telefilms, short films, and films. In the 2012 film Kahaani, which starred Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, he made his Hindi film debut. In addition to Sold (2014), directed by Jeffrey D. Brown, Bhalo Theko (2003), Baishe Srabon (2011), Kadambari (2017), Anukul (2017), Pari (2018), Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi (2019), Dwitiyo Purush (2020), and Bulbbul (2020) are some of his major works. His debut film as a Director was Jiyo Kaka (2011), starring Rituparna Sengupta, and Rudranil Ghosh. Later he along with Rudranil Ghosh launched their own production house, Workshop Productions Pvt. Ltd.

Arundhati Bhattacharya

Arundhati Bhattacharya is a retired Indian Banker and the former chairperson of the State Bank of India. She was the first woman to become the Chairperson of the State Bank of India. According to Forbes, she was listed as the 26th most powerful woman in the world. She is also the woman to lead an India-based Fortune 500 company. She has received many awards and recognitions such as Business Leader of the Year in 2018 at the Asian Awards, India Today magazine ranked her 19th in India's Most Powerful People in 2017, she was named as the 4th most powerful woman in Asia Pacific by Fortune, and many more. She is currently the Chairperson and CEO of Salesforce India, the CRM giant.
