IIT Madras, one of India's premier engineering institutes, offers a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Data Science. The registration process for the May 2023 batch of IIT Madras' BS degree in Data Science & Applications and Diploma in Data Science courses has commenced. To adapt to the benefits of online education in the current era, IIT Madras has launched two online Data Science degree programs: the BS degree in Data Science & Applications (previously known as the BSc degree in Programming & Data Science) and the Diploma in Data Science. Both online degree programs are open to students, freshmen, job seekers, and working professionals who have passed Class 12 (for the BS degree in Data Science & Applications) or have graduated from a recognized university (for the Diploma in Data Science). Students currently enrolled in the BSc program can also pursue the BS degree in Data Science & Applications. The full program’s duration varies from 3 to 6 years.
The applications for the May 2023 batch are now available. Interested individuals who meet the eligibility criteria can begin the application process by completing a straightforward form and paying the required fee. Learners who choose to take the Qualifier Exam at an examination center outside of India will be charged an additional exam facilitation fee.
The IIT Madras BSc data science degree has three levels with a different number of courses which are as follows - Foundation Level - 8 courses, Diploma Level - Programming Courses (6) and Data Science Courses (6). Degree Level - 11 courses.
Candidates from backward class (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWD) and PwD will have a lower qualifying score to get admission to the program.
All IITs conducts admission to undergraduate programmes with a secure Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). Candidates qualifying this examination will be eligible for a four year Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree, and a five year dual degree (Integrated course).
The salary package offered is 5 LPA to 6 LPA.

The students are not required to pay the entire fee for the foundation-level course. The fee amount will vary according to the number of courses a student has enrolled in each term, proportionate to the associated costs.
