IIT Bombay Hostel
IIT Bombay is one of the top institutes to study engineering in the country. Within the vast 550 acres of college campus lies the IIT Bombay Hostel ecosystem. The Hostel consists of 18 hostels out of which some are all-female hostels. Each hostel has around 200 - 600 student capacity, depending upon the size, occupancy and facilities.

About IIT Bombay
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (commonly known as IIT Bombay or IIT Mumbai) was founded in 1958 and is the first public college to receive funding from UNESCO. The Indian Parliament designated it as an "Institute of National Importance" in 1961. It has been designated as a "Deemed University" and is self-governing. At the Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctorate levels, IIT Bombay provides degree and dual degree programs. Hostel Allocation at IIT Bombay
Boys will be assigned two wings of hostel 16. On each floor, there are three subsections (also known as wings!) - each wing has six rooms, which two students will share.
For Girls - A distinct section of Hostel 16 (Hostel 16 C) is reserved for girls, also on a twin-sharing basis. You will be assigned a room as soon as you arrive at IIT Bombay (on the day of registration, July 2024), after signing in at the hostel warden's office with your details.

Facilities at IIT Bombay
Each room contains two beds, tables, chairs, ceiling fans, tube lights, cupboards, and high-speed internet access 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are two restrooms per six rooms, each with 24x7 running water (hot and cold). Each hostel has a mess (dining hall), a computer room, a gym, a television, sports grounds, and indoor activities such as table tennis, carrom, and chess, all of which can be accessed using your ID card. In addition, Hostels 15 and 16 provide stationery and xerox stores to meet basic needs.

IIT Bombay Hostel Council
The hostel council is divided into four sections: Cultural (Cult), Maintenance (Main), Mess, and Sports. Each of these councils is led by Hostel Councillors (or Cos - often third-year students or thirdies), with Hostel Secretaries (Secys - second-year students or sophies) aiding them in hostel administration.
