Intensive Care Unit (ICU) it's a unique hospital department that provides critical care medication and specialized treatment to patients who experience serious illness or trauma. The Intensive Care Unit deals with patients who go through serious and life-threatening illnesses or injuries. The Intensive Care Unit is composed of specialized doctors and nurses, which are very much needed by the patients who need round-the-clock care. The Intensive Care Unit specialized team takes care of very ill or severely injured patients.
There are 5 types of IUCs

SICU stands for Surgical Intensive Care Unit. This type of care unit is for patients who undergo severe surgeries. Patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit require special care and treatment.
CICU stands for cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Patients in this care unit suffer severely from cardiac problems like heart attack, heart failure etc.
PICU stands for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. This type of care unit deals with Intensive care of severely ill children or children suffering from respiratory distress etc.
NICU stands for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In this care unit patients require Intensive care for severely ill infants or premature babies.

The basic difference between ICU, HCU, and ICCU is the patients who are considered to be improving are shifted from the Intensive care unit (ICU) to the High care unit (HCU) because they need strict surveillance, and the patients who need severe and intense treatment for heart-related diseases like heart attack/ cardiac arrest, heart failure etc are shifted to Intensive coronary care unit (ICCU) or (CCU).
