Gyan Sadhana Scholarship: Major Highlights
The Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Scheme 2024 (ज्ञान साधना छात्रवृत्ति 2024) is a merit-based initiative that was taken to help the students of grades 9 to 12 by the Education Department as per the resolution dated 07/06/2023. Under the Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Scheme, students who have completed continuous education in government or aided primary schools from grades 1 to 8 and have completed their grade 8 studies are eligible. Additionally, under the Right to Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act, 2009) and the rules framed thereunder in 2012, children from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups aged 6 to 14 are entitled to free education in self-financed schools, with 25% of seats reserved for them.
- Among these students from grade 1 to 8 who are meritorious will be selected based on merit for admission into grade 9 in state-recognized self-financed schools, state government schools, and grant-in-aid schools.

Gyan Sadhana Scholarship: Exam Pattern
The examination related to this scheme will be conducted by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar. This scholarship exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and is divided into 2 parts Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The Gyan Sadhana examination is conducted in two languages i.e. English & Gujarati and the total marks of this examination are 120 marks. The Mental ability test is for 40 marks and the scholastic Aptitude Test is for 80 marks. The two which are conducted for this scholarship are:
- MAT- The full form of MAT is the Mental Ability Test and this test is conducted for 40 marks out of 120 marks.
- SAT- The full form of SAT is the Scholastic Aptitude Test and this test is conducted for 80 marks out of 120 marks.

Gyan Sadhana Scholarship: Eligibility Criteria

Gyan Sadhana Scholarship: For Aided or Government Schools
As per the current update, all students from government and grant-aid schools can now apply for the Gyan Sadhana Scholarship 2024. Earlier, this scheme applied only to the 300 schools for admitting students based on merit. But now the education department has also included 261 grant-in-aid education boards and 39 schools affiliated with other boards, where the student success rate exceeded 80 percent.

Students who gain admission to grades 9 in government or aided schools will receive the scholarship from grades 9 to 12.

· For studies in grades 11 to 12: ₹7,000/- per year
3. Financial Assistance
Eligible students who gain admission to aided or government schools will receive financial assistance as follows:

Gyan Sadhana Scholarship: Registration and Steps to Apply Online
There are 9 steps to apply online for the Gyan Sadhana Scholarship 2024. All the 9 steps are explained below for your better understanding:
Step 1: Candidates are required to visit the official website @www.gssyguj.in. There, students will find a link to proceed with registration for the year 2024.
Step 2: Refer to the below screenshot. In the next step, students need to enter their Adhar UID (18-digit CTS ID) in the provided box. Click the "Search" button to verify your full name, date of birth (D.O.B), and mobile number as per Child Targeting in the available system (refer to the below screenshot). If an incorrect or invalid CTS ID has been entered, you can click the "RESET" button to re-enter the CTS ID and proceed.
If a student finds any mistake in the mobile number provided above or if he/she needs to change their mobile number during registration, they can edit it thereby making corrections to full name and date of birth (D.O.B) at the time of registration.
Step 3: After filling in your full name, date of birth (D.O.B), and mobile number, an applicant will find an option of "Get OTP”. Upon clicking it, a 6-digit OTP will be sent to your provided mobile number. Enter this OTP and click on "Verify OTP" to set your password. After entering your password, click on the "Register" button to complete the registration process.
Step 4: After completing the registration, the next step is to go to the login page and select the "Student" option from the dropdown box. Below that, enter your Aadhaar UID (18-digit CTS ID) and the password you set. After that, click on the "Login" button.
Step 5: After logging in, the applicant will see his/her full name in the top right corner. Below that, the student's details will be available in the CTS section. Specifically, the student's information will be accessible in the profile section where you can check and modify details such as date of birth, gender, and category (SC/ST/OBC/General) if needed.
Step 6: The next step is to select their district and taluka of residence and also select the type of school in which they have studied from Grade 1 to Grade 8, it should be RTE applicable.
Students who have studied under RTE from Grades 1 to 8 should select the type of school as per the following options available in the dropdown list for choosing the type of RTE.
Step 7: Under the RTE Act, 2009, students enrolled in private schools who have obtained admission under the specified reserved categories in Class 1 will need to select their category preference from the dropdown menu. Additionally, those who have secured admission under categories 8, 9, 11, 12, and 13 among the 13 categories specified will be required to upload proof of their income eligibility certificate for immediate validation. All the 13 categories are mentioned below:
1. Orphan Child
2. Child in need of care and protection
3. Children living in childcare institutions
4. Children who are victims of trafficking or rescued children
5. Children with disabilities, including those with specific needs/physical disabilities as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, Section 34(1)
6. Children receiving anti-retroviral therapy (ART)
7. Children of armed forces including paramilitary forces/police personnel
8. Single girl child of the family (upload income certificate)
9. Children studying in government-run Anganwadi (upload income certificate)
10. Children from families with annual income up to ₹20,000 in all categories (SC/ST/SEBC/GENERAL or others) and belonging to BPL families
11. Children belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories (upload caste certificate)
12. Children from socially and educationally backward classes/other backward classes (OBC) (upload caste certificate)
