Group Discussion Topics Overview

Group Discussion, or GD, is a discussion amongst a group of people about a certain topic. A group discussion is commonly utilized in the selection process of organizations and educational institutions. Candidates discuss the assigned topic in order to convey facts, ideas, and conclusions. GDs evaluate the candidate's total personality - knowledge, point of view, leadership abilities, communication skills, and group behavior - all of which are important for a competent manager.

What exactly is a Group Discussion (GD) for MBA?

A GD for MBA admission is typically 20-25 minutes long, during which a topic is assigned to a group of students to discuss. Students are given around five minutes to prepare their topic. During the discussion, panelists look for speakers who have good spoken English, confidence, clarity of thinking, the ability to convey an argument clearly, and leadership skills, as they are important for a company manager or administrator to succeed.
