GFTI also known as The Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTI), are a group of 27 premier technical institutes funded by the Government of India. According to the official date, the number of seats available for the academic year 2015 was approximately 9,260. It has a similar academic and admissions system to NITs and IIITs.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) oversees conducting admissions for 27 government-funded technical institutes.
Courses offered by GFTI Colleges are very popular among class 12 graduates. These colleges offer a variety of higher degree programs in addition to BTech and BArch. Admission to all programs is competitive. BTech and BArch are the most popular undergraduate programs offered by GFTIs, while MBA and MTech are the most popular postgraduate programs.

To gain admission to GFTI Colleges, candidates must pass entrance exams for various UG and PG level programs. Candidates for BTech courses are admitted through the JEE Main exam. Since 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has served as the conducting authority for JEE Main. Postgraduate programs with various specializations are available at GFTI colleges. JoSAA publishes the category- and round-wise opening and closing ranks or cut-offs for admission to GFTI colleges' BTech, BArch, and dual degree programs through JEE Main. Candidates must register and participate in the JoSAA counselling and seat allotment process in order to be admitted to these courses. On the basis of candidates' JEE Main Ranks, JoSAA holds a joint counselling session for admission to GFTI colleges.
Candidates must register online at the JoSAA website in order to take part in the JoSAA Counseling Process in 2022. Candidates can access the site by entering their respective JEE Main exam roll numbers. To register for JoSAA, candidates do not need to provide any additional personal or academic information. All information will be taken directly from the student's JEE Main and JEE Advanced application forms. Candidates must, however, update their contact information when applying for the centralised counselling process run by JoSAA.
Candidates who pass the JEE Main exam are considered eligible for admission to the courses offered by India's various GFTIs. The first step in GFTI seat allocation is to choose the stream and institute where the candidate wishes to apply. Once the candidates have decided on a steam, they must arrange their options according to their preference choice of streams must be filled in the order of preference - most preferred to least preferred. It is possible to do so by using the Arrange Filled Choices option on the JoSAA official website. Fill in the options based on your interests and only then submit the options.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has provided the counselling dates for admission to Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) in the table above. Only candidates who pass JEE Main 2022 will be eligible to participate in GFTI counseling. Seat allocation for GFTIs will be done based on a candidate's rank and score in the JEE Main exam.
