GATE Result 2023 – How GATE Marks are Calculated?

After all the answers of GATE Exam are evaluated, the actual marks secured by any candidate will be considered for calculating the GATE 2023 Score. For GATE papers with multiple sessions, raw marks obtained by the candidates in multiple sessions will be converted into normalized marks for that particular subject. This is how the raw marks for single session papers or normalized marks for more than on session papers are used in order to calculate the GATE Score 2023, based on the qualifying marks.

GATE Exam Result 2023 – What is the GATE Normalization Process?

As there were multiple sessions in which the GATE Exam 2023 was conducted, the same normalization process is used to normalize the variations in the difficulty level of the GATE Question Papers across different sessions in which the exam is conducted. The examination conducting body carry out the normalization process based on the fundamental assumption that “in all multi session GATE 2023 Papers, , the distribution of abilities of candidates is the same across all the sessions".
