Latest Updates at EFLU: The CUET UG 2024 examination date has been announced, scheduled to take place from May 15, 2024, to May 31, 2024. Anticipated to be released in the first week of February 2024, the application form for CUET 2024 will be made available. As of now, the placement report for 2023 at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Hyderabad has not been released. However, based on the EFLU Hyderabad NIRF report for 2023, the median package offered during the UG 3-year placements in 2022 was INR 3.25 LPA. Additionally, the median package for PG 1-year and PG 2-year placements in 2022 at EFLU Hyderabad was INR 4.5 LPA. Notable companies such as Amazon, IBM, and Oracle have been among the top recruiters during recent EFLU Hyderabad placements. |
The English and Foreign Languages University, the first language school in the nation, was founded to raise the bar for English instruction there. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, was the instigator of the Institute. The Central Institute of English was founded in Hyderabad in 1958 with the purpose of training English language instructors. On 32 acres of land, the Institute's structures total about 25. Later, in April of 1972, the institute made the decision to broaden its focus and start offering courses in additional foreign languages. In 2007, CIEFL was recognised as an English and Foreign Languages University.
In order to provide instructional and research facilities for the teaching of English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, and Korean in India, the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) was founded in Hyderabad in 1958. In 1973, it received the designation of Deemed University. A number of languages are available for UG, PG, and diploma studies at EFLU. It facilitates India's contacts with other countries and is the only institution of its kind in South Asia with seven schools and 26 departments. The Central Institute of English (CIE) was the previous name of the university; however, in 2006–2007, the name was changed to English and Foreign Languages University.

Hyderabad's EFLU was established as the Central Institute of English in 1958. (CIE). The University's mission is to advance and disseminate "instructional, research and extension facilities in the teaching of English and Foreign Languages and literature in India," as well as "to take appropriate measures for interdisciplinary studies and research in literary and cultural studies, and to develop literary and cultural studies as a discipline," giving shape to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's (India's first Prime Minister) vision of creating an institution to provide quality training in English for teachers. CIE established standards through its numerous conferences, refresher courses, and endeavors in syllabus creation in addition to its regular teacher training programs.
The Institute also started indigenous English education programs at this time by creating textbooks for schools and eventually radio lectures also they gradually broadened the scope of its objectives, including raising the bar for English instruction, carrying out pertinent research, and introducing foreign languages. In order to reflect the addition of three significant foreign languages—German, Russian, and French—it was renamed the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972.
CIEFL received recognition as a deemed university in 1973. To meet the demands of language practitioners in the North East and the North, two new campuses were established in Shillong (1973) and Lucknow (1979), venturing into newer areas including curriculum creation, evaluation, and methodology.

One will find the main campus in the center of Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. The university's oldest campus is EFLU Hyderabad. There are 26 departments across 7 schools on the campus. In addition to graduate, postgraduate, and research programs, EFLU also provides distance learning, part-time, and postgraduate diploma programs.

Candidates may apply for admission to all of EFLU Hyderabad's undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs by taking online, computer-based entrance exams. One year after Meghalaya became a state, the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) North-East Campus was founded in Shillong as the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Shillong Campus. The English and Foreign Languages University Lucknow campus is based at the Moti Mahal Campus, Rana Pratap Marg, Lucknow, and is situated on the banks of the Gomti. The EFLU Campus in Lucknow was founded in 1979 to train university and college English instructors in northern India, but it gradually developed into a full-fledged center offering a PG Diploma in the Teaching of English, degree programs, and research programs. The campus has been actively involved in running refresher courses for college and university teachers, competency courses for a variety of learners, and contact programs for those enrolled in the Postgraduate Certificate degree in the Teaching of English. A postgraduate diploma in communication is also available on campus. There are no online or distance learning options available for any of the programs offered by the campus.
