Deepak Kesarkar was born on July 18, 1955 to Vasant Kesarkar in Sawantwadi, Maharashtra. He has had a very vibrant political career since 2009 when he was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (1 term). Later, in 2014, he was re-elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (2nd term) and given the charge of Minister of State for Finance, Rural Development in the Maharashtra State Government. He was also the guardian minister of the Sindhudurg district in 2014. Subsequently, in 2016, he was the minister of State for Home (Rural), Finance, and Planning in the Maharashtra State Government. He was also elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2019.
The vision the education minister shared for Konkan has a prime focus on farmers, fisheries, tourism, education, and industry while keeping the rich heritage of Konkan intact. He talked about the need and support from all the stakeholders, which includes the people of the region, for the development of Konkan. He also talks about the active participation of the young in promoting tourism and the agro-industry.
