What is DAV Full Form?

DAV, or the Dayanand Anglo Vedic Society, is a non-governmental educational organization in India and across the world. The Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society, also known as the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Education Society, founded these institutions in Lahore in 1886 with a mission desire to restore the lost brightness and splendour of Vedic principles, with Mahatma Hansraj as its founding principal at the DAV's first institution in Lahore. The schools are well-known in India since they are extensively scattered around the world; many people enrol here to study in any branch of DAV.

The Dayanand Anglo-Vedic education system also includes colleges throughout India that give graduate and post-graduate degrees in many fields of study. The DAV Institutions have played an important part in India's educational and cultural transformation since its founding over a century ago. It was the start of a nationalist movement that grew into a solitary institution with a national presence, showing the harmonic merger of Indian values, culture, and contemporary technology.

History of DAV

The first DAV school was built in Lahore in 1885, which was later expanded to become the first DAV College. The DAV College Trust and Management Society was formed and registered in 1886 to carry out the prophetic vision of the renowned philosopher Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. It was founded under the Societies Act of 1860, and the first DAV School was formed in Lahore the same year, with Mahatma Hansraj as Honorary Headmaster. Today, the DAV College Managing Committee is India's largest non-governmental educational institution. It has helped to create a nation by pioneering private initiative in education.

DAV students have emerged as leaders in their chosen industries as Nobel laureates, Prime Ministers, scientists, athletes, defence people, movie stars, media personalities, and CEOs throughout a 127-year career span, making significant contributions to India's economic and social growth. DAVCMC is delighted to operate nearly 780 educational institutions, including public schools, grant-in-aid schools, colleges, institutes of professional education, and research facilities. It also operates over a hundred project and semi-project schools for blue-chip corporate houses like ACC, Tata, Reliance, and Adani, as well as public sector corporations like BHEL, GAIL, and SECL. DAVCMC fulfils its social duty by operating ashrams and orphanages for disadvantaged and needy children and women.
