The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament i.e. Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for regulation and development of the profession of Chartered Accountants in the country. ICAI is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. ICAI is the largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world with a strong tradition of serving the Indian economy in public interest.
The study course for chartered accountancy candidates will be named as Intermediate Course which will be divided into two Groups viz. Group I and Group II. Chartered Accountants (CA) programs are in three levels i.e. CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, CA Final. In the CA program, CA Intermediate (CA Inter) is the second level course offered by ICAI. The student who has passed CA Foundation will be eligible for registration to the Intermediate Course.
