Pragati is an MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) aimed at assisting Girls pursuing Technical Education. Education is one of the important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skill, and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. Pragati Scholarship aims to provide financial help to meritorious female students from economically weaker sections of society to pursue technical education. Under this Scheme the selected candidates will receive 50,000 per annum for every year of study i.e. a maximum of 4 years for first-year admitted students and a maximum of 3 years for second-year admitted students through lateral entry as a lump sum amount towards payment of college fees, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment’s, software, etc. This is an attempt to give young women the opportunity to further pursue their education and prepare for a successful future by “Empowering Women through Technical Education”.

PRAGATI Scholarship Overview 2024

·   Total Number of Scholarship-4000 per Annum (2000 for Degree and 2000 for Diploma)

·   The candidate should be admitted to 1st year of a Degree/Diploma course in any of the AICTE-approved Institutions of the respective year through the Centralized Admission process of the State/ Central Government.

·   The Scholarships for Degrees and Diplomas are transferable in the event of the non-availability of eligible applicants in any of the Degree / Diploma level programs.

·   Two Girls Child per family are eligible, whose family income is not more than 8 lakh per annum during the preceding financial year (in the case of married girls, the income of parents/in-laws, whichever is higher will be considered).

·   The selection of candidates will be made on merit based on qualifying examinations to peruse the respective Technical Degree / Diploma course from any of the AICTE approved institution

·   Amount of scholarship: Tuition Fee of Rs. 30,000/- or at actual, whichever is less and Rs.2000/- per month for 10 months as incidentals charges each year. In case of Tuition fee waiver/reimbursement, Students are eligible to get an amount of RS. 30.000 - for the purchase of Books/Equipment/Software/Laptop/Desktop/Vehicle/ Fee paid towards competitive examination applications forms exam.

·   Reservation-15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for OBC candidate/applicant.

Eligibility for PRAGATI Scholarship

1)  For Pragati-Degree Level

·      Up to Two girls per family.

·      Family income should be less than Rs. 8 lakh.

·      Students admitted in UG Degree Level Programme/ Course in AICTE Approved Institutions.

·   The students admitted in the first year of their Degree Course OR the Second year through lateral entry (LE) in any of the AICTE approved Institutions of the respective year.

·   Rs 50,000 per annum for every year of study i.e., a maximum of 4 years for a Degree for first-year admitted students and a maximum of 3 years for Degree students admitted through lateral entry as lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, computer purchase, stationery, books, Equipment, Software's purchase, etc. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges, medical charges, etc.

·   Only female students are eligible.

·   The candidate should NOT be the recipient of any of the Central Govt./ State Govt. / AICTE Sponsored scholarships.

2)  For Pragati-Diploma Level

·   Up to two girls per family.

·   Family income should be less than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum.

·   Students admitted in Diploma Level Programmes/Courses in AICTE Approved Institutions.

·   The students admitted in the first year of their Diploma Course OR the Second year of the Diploma Course through lateral entry (LE) in any of the AICTE approved Institutions of the respective year.

·   Rs 50,000 per annum for every year of study i.e., a maximum of 3 years for a Diploma for first-year admitted students and a maximum of 2 years for Diploma students admitted through lateral entry as a lump sum amount towards payment of college fees, computer purchase, stationery, books, Equipment, Software's purchase, etc. No other additional grant will be payable instead of hostel charges medical charges etc.

·   Only female students are eligible.

·   The candidate should NOT be the recipient of any of the Central Govt./ State Govt. / AICTE Sponsored scholarships.

Documents Required for the Pragati Application Form

Following are the documents required to be uploaded while filling out the PRAGATI Scholarship application form:

·   Mark Sheet of standard Xth /XIIth / others as applicable.

·   Annual family Income Certificate for the preceding financial year in the prescribed format issued by those not below the rank of Tahsildar.

·   Admission letter issued by the Directorate of Technical Education for admission in

·   Diploma/ Degree course.

·   Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/ Head of the Institute.

·   Tuition fee receipt.

·   AADHAR seeded Bank Pass Book in the name of the student indicating the Account number, IFSC code, and Photograph

·   Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC category.

·   AADHAR Card

·   Declaration by parents duly signed stating that the information provided by their child is correct and will refund the Scholarship amount if found false at any stage.

Reasons for Rejection under the PRAGATI Scheme

There are chances that Students may face rejection under the PRAGATI scholarship scheme. A few of the reasons are given below:

·   Student is admitted in non-technical courses or Courses that are not approved by AICTE in the current academic year.

·   University / Institute is not approved by the AICTE in the current academic year.

·   Incomplete/Wrong information filled in the submitted application.

·   Student admitted in dual degree courses.

·   Student is availing scholarship from any other sources.

·   Student admitted in post-graduate courses.
