About the University
The foundation for the establishment of the agricultural university named Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur came into being after August 1, 1966, when a junior College of agriculture was established at Palampur under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The University came into existence on November 1, 1978.
The university offers around 7 degrees and 26 courses. It's a state co-ed institute with a gender percentage of 38% male and 62% female. Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya campus size is 972 acres with a faculty count of 233 and a student count of 1647. The percentage of students outside the states is 12%.
History: The University came into existence on November 1, 1978.
- The Agricultural Complex comprising the Colleges of Agriculture at Palampur and Solan and the agricultural research stations in different agro-climatic zones of Himachal Pradesh formed the nucleus of the newly established University.
- A separate University of Horticulture and Forestry named as Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry at Solan was carved out of CSKHPKV in 1985.
- In 1986 the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Palampur was established as a constituent second faculty of Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya.
- In May 1991, the departments of Home Science and Basic Sciences and Humanities of College of Agriculture were similarly upgraded to full-fledged College of Home Science and Basic Sciences.

- R.S. Amin Chand Memorial Scholarship - Rs 1500 will be given to that student On a Merit -cum Means basis.
- 1. College Merit Scholarship - Rs 600 will be given to 10% of the total number of students Awarded to the top 10% of UG students having domicile in H.P.
- RAWE (Rural Agricultural work experience) stipend - Rs 2000 will be given to that student in one semester in 4th year.

CSKHPKV Hostel: Fully furnished two separate hostels are present one for boys and the other for girls, hostels offer a unique way to explore new destinations without breaking the bank. All the hostels are fully equipped with wifi and a peaceful environment.
CSKHPKV Health care centre: a health care centre is also located at the campus, which is available all days a week—the CSKHPKV Palampur Health Center in collaboration with Vivekanand Medical Research Institute.
CSKHPKV Library: CSKHPKV Palampur library is the well- stocked and resourced with books, textbooks, newspapers, magazines, international articles, e-books, e- thesis and online databases. The university library has also been designed as a FAQ repository by FAO.
